Saidi Omary is a Tinga Tinga painter who was born in 1979 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He comes from a highly active artistic family where at least three of his brothers currently paint in the Tinga Tinga style. One of his brothers, Abdallah Chilamboni is the Chairman of the Tinga Tinga Arts Cooperative Society (TACS). His father Saidi Chilamboni started to paint in the early seventies and was one of founders of TACS in 1990.
Saidi Omary is one of the most skilful Tinga Tinga painters and he often portrays animals in different shapes and colours as if he wished to capture a moment of action. As Vice Chairman of TACS in 2008, Saidi Omary was one of the signatories of the contract which gave rights to Walt Disney, BBC and other companies to exploit the art of Tinga Tinga in animation films and commercial products.
